About Château Sociando-Mallet

The Chateau Sociando-Mallet is located in the municipality of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne north of Pauillac. Its vineyard dominates the estuary of the Gironde. In 1969, when Jean Gautrau decided to acquire Sociando-Mallet, only 5 hectares of vines remained in production. Today the estate covers more than 110 hectares. The vineyard occupies the hillock of Baleyron, one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Médoc. Jean Gautrau favors the production of grapes concentrated in tannins, sugars, colors and aromas.

Wine characteristics

Grapes: 55% de Merlot, 40% de Cabernet Sauvignon et 5% de Cabernet Franc
Nose: Complex bouquet dominated by notes of black fruit, a touch of minerality and a well-integrated oak
Palate: Deep, rich fruit with lots of depth and potential complexity. Very good middle palate and a fine, firm finish
Robe: Dark  and deep red
Evolution: 30 year aging potential
