About Château Boyd Cantenac

Château Boyd Cantenac is located in the Margaux appellation. The Boyd family was an important Belfast merchant family, exporting wool. The fall of the wool market pushed them to emigrate to the continent. They settled in Bordeaux, acquiring the vineyard in Cantenac in 1754. But Lewis Brown took it and then the Ginestet family. The castle Boyd Cantenac belongs today to the Guillemet family.

Wine characteristics

Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc
Nose: Very aromatic and seductive nose. On the one hand, Merlot brings notes of ripe and fresh fruit. On the other hand, a slight acidity is expressed with Cabernet Sauvignon which also brings its intense and fine aromas. Finally, the Cabernet Franc comes to balance the whole.
Palate: Complex but very balanced wine, with fine and silky tannins. Very round wine, ample and greedy, with a very fresh fruit. Great finesse and beautiful length in the mouth brought by Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Franc brings its intensity, its elegant.
